SPIRITUALITY AND MISSION Spirituality and mission flow from the Eucharist, the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, which Christ instituted as a sacrament of love and life for the world.
The scope of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament is to promote the central place of the Eucharist, force of renewal for church and society, as the Rule of Life for the Congregation states in number 1: “to live the mystery of the Eucharist fully, and to make known its meaning, so that Christ’s reign may come and the glory of God be revealed to the world”.
This implies in practice, that the members of the Congregation are engaged in many types of pastoral work, among which parishes and city-center churches or shrines take a preferential place. By study and publications of various kinds the Religious deepen the love for and knowledge of the Eucharist, offering spiritual nourishment and pastoral inputs.
Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament (Adoration) has a central place in the personal and community life of the members. It gives them strength and joy, inspiration and orientation for life and work. They reachout to help people to discover the riches of this source of life and to accompany them on their way of deepening their love for the Eucharist. Commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Saint Peter Julian Eymard 2010-2011
(Born: La Mure, France, February 4, 1811, d. 1868).
I pray to you, O Lord, I cry to you,
and sometimes I do not even find the right words
to speak to you about myself, about you,
about everything and everyone.
But I still feel attracted to you
to reflect on my life in your presence.
May this always continue, Lord!
And may the example of St. Peter Julian Eymard
encourage us to make our life of prayer
a breath of our soul,
a constant inhaling,
a source of life and love.
